PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article handling apparatus capable of, even when a required facility has abnormality, controlling respective facilities in synchronization with the abnormal facility. SOLUTION: A filling apparatus 1 includes the facilities respectively having rotary bodies such as star wheels, wherein the facilities are driven by first to fifth servo motors M1-M5 and during normal operation of the filing apparatus, the first to fifth servo motors are controlled by feedback pulses from, for instance, the first servo motor M1. When the filler 9 driven by the third servo motor M3 has abnormality for instance, a control means 14 controls the first, the second, the fourth and the fifth servo motors, which have no abnormality, based on the pulses generated by a third encoder E3 provided on the star wheel of the filler 9.
