PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system which can be easily miniaturized and lightened in weight at a low cost. SOLUTION: The lighting system includes an illumination LED part 3, a plug 2 to the output terminal of which the illumination LED part 3 is connected, and an outlet 1 in which the input terminal of the plug 2 is connected to the connection terminal 13a of a plug socket portion 13 and a driving circuit 10 for driving the illumination LED part 3 is built-in. The driving circuit 10 has a diode bridge 11 for converting an ac voltage from an ac power supply 20 to a dc voltage, a solid state relay 12 for switching on and off the dc voltage converted by the diode bridge 11, and a resistor R1 connected between the output terminal of the solid state relay 12 and the connection terminal 13a of the plug socket portion 13.
