PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active energy ray curable resin and a composition of the resin, capable of giving a hard coat film on an article surface, the hard coat film sufficiently having both of hard-coat property of protecting an article surface from damages or scratches by impact or the like and stain-resistant property hardly causing stain deposition on the article surface and easily removing stain depositing on the surface, and having excellent appearance protecting performance, and to provide a hard coat agent containing the resin or the resin composition. SOLUTION: The active energy ray curable resin has an acryl equivalent of 200 to 700 g/eq, obtained by allowingα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid to react with a copolymer containing a (meth)acrylate (a) having an epoxy group and a polysiloxane mono(meth)acrylate (b), as a polymer component. The resin composition includes the above resin in which an inorganic filler is incorporated, and if necessary, a polyfunctional (meth)acrylate component is blended to the composition to prepare a hard coat agent.
