PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction of productivity when a paper feed tray is automatically changed to a manual feed tray and to prevent reduction of operability when changing paper supply and paper. SOLUTION: An image forming device includes a control section acquiring paper information of papers stored in the paper feed tray and paper information of a paper placed on the manual feed tray and controlling paper feed from the paper feed tray and paper feed from the manual feed tray and a paper feed tray remaining amount detection section detecting a remaining amount of the papers in the paper feed tray, wherein the control section receives a detection result of the paper feed tray remaining amount detection section and shifts the manual feed tray, which is not in a paper feed ready state, to the paper feed ready state when it determines that the remaining amount of the papers in the paper feed tray performing paper feed for an active job becomes less than a predetermined amount and it determines that paper feed from the paper feed tray is possible.
