PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which eliminates the need for maintenance working of an ultraviolet irradiation surface in printing by applying ultraviolet rays to a jetted ultraviolet-curing liquid, and which is advantageous in terms of both costs and maintenance. SOLUTION: In performing ultraviolet-curing type printing by jetting the ultraviolet-curing liquid from a liquid jetting head 7 to a printing medium 1 and applying the ultraviolet rays to the jetted ultraviolet-curing liquid from an ultraviolet irradiation head 8 adjacent to the liquid jetting head 7, at the time of non printing, a wiping material 13 of a wiping unit 10 is made to contact with the ultraviolet irradiation surface of the ultraviolet irradiation head 8, and the wiping material 13 is moved by rotating a winding roll 12 in the state, whereby the mist stuck to the ultraviolet irradiation surface is wiped. At the same time, the mist is prevented from adhering to the ultraviolet irradiation surface at the time of non printing by bringing into contact with the wiping material 13 of the wiping unit 10 to the ultraviolet irradiation surface of the ultraviolet irradiation head 8 thereby covering the surface at the time of non printing.
