PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor control device of an electric reel, which can prevent the burning of a motor without lowering the performance. SOLUTION: The control unit 90 includes a spool sensor 102, an electric current detection portion 108a, an adjustment lever 101, and a reel control portion 100. The spool sensor detects the rotation speed of the spool. The electric current detection portion detects a load acting on the spool with an electric current value. The adjustment lever sets the rotation speed of the spool to either of the upper limit speeds of high and low stages. The reel control portion controls the motor so that the rotation speed of the spool becomes the upper limit speed of the set stage, and performs an intermittent control for intermittently flowing an electric current to the motor, when a load state above a prescribed smaller first electric current value than the largest electric current value flowing in the motor is continued for the first prescribed time, and when the spool is rotated in the first state below the prescribed lower first speed than the upper limit speed of the highest speed stage.
