Provided is a thin and small light emitting device with excellent yield by stably supporting a package during manufacture. The light emitting device is provided with the package having a window at the front for placing a light emitting element, and an outer lead electrode protruding from the bottom surface of the package. The bottom surface of the package is provided with a side protruding section arranged on the side surface, and a center protruding section formed on the center section. The outer lead electrode is stored in a recessed section formed by the side protruding section and the center protruding section, and the side surface of the side protruding section has a groove. The light emitting device makes it possible to stably support the package during manufacture, and the thin and small light emitting device is provided. Furthermore, the light emitting device makes it possible to suppress mounting failures at the time of mounting the light emitting device on the substrate. |
