The base element (1) is fixed to the ladder entry side and can be extended at will and is fixed to the side element by a retaining grip both positively and relasably joined to the base element (1). A crossbar (3) on the base part rises clear of the shaft etc and has an angled sheetmetal part (2) which grasps behind the grip crosspiece when the ladder is installed. A safety bar fitted to the crossbar (3) grasps the grip crosspiece from below. The top part of the base element (1) is angled (K) relative the remaining ladder part and a grip (5) is fitted to the top end of element (1). Sleeves at the top ends of the ladder itself are for the lower ends of the ladder as slid into the top ends of another ladder etc.
