<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heavyweight concrete used in ballasts, which yields a sufficient fluidity and prevents separation of an aggregate and a cement paste, by solving the problems associated with heavyweight concrete used in conventional cargo carrier ballasts, provided that, since conventional concrete cannot yield sufficient fluidity and often results in separation between the aggregate and the cement paste, it is associated with problems such as difficulty of pumping when filling the concrete and failure of the ballast to achieve planned weight due to the presence of voids left unfilled at corners of a ballast formwork. <P>SOLUTION: The cargo carrier ballast 1 comprises a heavyweight aggregate essentially comprising at least one chosen from FeO, Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and metal iron, provided that spherical particles account for 20% or more of total particles in the aggregate and particles that pass through a sieve with a nominal mesh size of 0.15 mm account for 10-20 mass% of the total particles in the aggregate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
