<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a domain name system server capable of processing name resolution at a high speed. <P>SOLUTION: The domain name system server 10 includes: a receiving circuit for converting a received signal into a data sequence; a database storing the host name of a communication apparatus and the IP address so that they are associated with each other; a searching circuit for acquiring communication data used to inquire the IP address from the host name of the communication apparatus and searching the host name from the database; and a processing execution circuit for generating communication data for returning the IP address corresponding to the host name to the inquiry source and transmitting the generated data.
