PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain writing position correction having higher correction accuracy even when affected by the surface tangle of a rotational polygon mirror so that a writing position displacement amount to a writing position has non-linear characteristics. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus is provided with: a screen part 24 for converting obtained image data into area gradation; a writing error data storage part 27 for storing characteristic information of writing position errors in the writing direction of an exposing device 34 scanning an image bearing body by light beams deflected on the reflective surface of the rotational polygon mirror; and a jitter correction part 25 for correcting the image data converted into area gradation in the screen part 24 by each pixel corresponding to a writing position while synchronizing with the reflective surface of the rotational polygon mirror of an exposing device 34 using the characteristic information of errors stored in the writing error data storage part 27.
