PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article conveying device capable of preventing the start of the movement of a moving body in a state that the moving body cannot be braked. SOLUTION: The article conveying device includes a moving body for conveying articles which is movable by a driving means (M1), a braking means (B) freely switchable between a braking state for braking the movement of the moving body and a brake-releasing state, and a control means (7) for controlling the driving means and the braking means. The control means executes the processing for checking the braking state of controlling the driving means and the braking means at the timing for checking the braking state so as to set the braking means in a braking state and to drive the driving means.
