The invention relates to a method for producing a thin-walled container having a large volume, greater than two litres, including the following steps: the cold- or hot-forming of a preform having a neck and a mouth intended to receive a plug such as to form the desired volume, whereby said preform can exhibit residual stresses after it has been formed to produce the desired volume; and the use of a ratio of container weight/expanded container surface of between 150g/m2 and 250g/m2, more particularly between 150g/m2 and 200g/m2. The invention also relates to the container and to the device for receiving said container.
