PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create a high quality image at a low cost by reducing the CPU load when correcting the distortion due to camera shake during image capture using a focal plane electronic shutter system, by software. SOLUTION: In the method for capturing an image by an imaging device provided with a focal plane electronic shutter function, which has a plurality of pixels 2-dimensionally arranged like a matrix and captures an image by performing scan while sequentially shifting the exposure timing at intervals of a fixed time per group, wherein a prescribed unit of pixels is one group, a shutter operation is detected to not only acquire a reference image by sequentially shifting the exposure timing at intervals of the time to perform scan whiling thinning lines by one or more but also acquire a comparison image by performing sequential scan while not thinning respective groups of pixels to be taken in, and motion data of the comparison image is calculated on the basis of the reference image, and distortion of the comparison image is corrected on the basis of the motion data.
