PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for shortening a photographing interval in consecutive photographing, and its control method. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 100 includes a camera module 101, a CPU 110 connected to the camera module 101 through an internal bus 109, a buffer memory 111, an LCD 112 and a recording memory 113. Upon receiving a start signal from the CPU 110, the camera module 101 generates image data of a subject, displays the image data on the LCD 112, and outputs the image data as imaged data in response to a shutter operation. The CPU 110 performs image processing such as compression processing of imaged data temporarily obtained in the buffer memory 111, starts processing for storing the imaged data subjected to the image processing in the recording memory 113 in response to the end of the compression processing, or the like, and generates a start signal to be given to the camera module 101.
