PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for hemming a vehicle body member where, even if high strain stress is applied to a hemmed part, fracture does not occur in the hemming between a panel material and an adhesive. SOLUTION: In the method where an outer panel 1 and an inner panel 2 made of a combination of dissimilar materials are hemmed, so as to compose a vehicle body member, the method includes: an adhesive applying stage where at least either of the relatively confronted parts in the outer panel 1 and the inner panel 2 is coated with an adhesive 3; and a hemming stage where the end part 1A in the outer panel 1 is turned up in such a manner that the adhesive 3 is sandwiched between the end parts of the outer panel 1 and the inner part 2, and, as the adhesive 3, the one having elasticity when being cured is used.
