PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of thick coating at both ends of a coating section and obtain uniform and high coating accuracy, particularly in transfer-coating a coating liquid across the entire width of a roller narrower than a base material. SOLUTION: A coating device 10 includes a photogravure roller 14 that transfer-coats a treatment liquid onto an intermediate transfer object 12 across the entire width of a roller surface by bringing the roller surface with the treatment liquid into contact with the strip-line intermediate transfer object 12 conveyed and a blade 16 that scrapes excess coating liquid on the roller surface by bringing the blade into contact with the roller surface. An air spraying nozzle 18 that removes the meniscus of the excessive coating liquid formed at a position where a distal end portion of the blade 16 and both ends of the roller 14 cross is provided.
