PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of improving the robustness of a NOx emission quantity by appropriately calculating engine control parameters influenced by an exhaust air recirculation quantity regardless of characteristic fluctuation and a secular change of an internal combustion engine.

SOLUTION: An estimated exhaust gas recirculation quantity EGRhat is calculated using a neural network and a correlation parameter a(k) indicating a relation between a detected actual exhaust gas recirculation quantity EGRact and the estimated exhaust gas recirculation quantity EGRhat is calculated (S14). The main injection of fuel is divided into two and executed and its division ratio Rm1 is corrected (S16-S19) according to the correlation parameter a(k).
