PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide resin, a polyimide resin composition containing it, and a method for producing the polyimide resin, which has excellent shelf life, exhibits high solubility to a solvent even after prolonged storage, and forms a coating film excellent in toughness, heat resistance, and dimensional stability. SOLUTION: The polyimide resin has a structure represented by general formula (1). The polyimide resin composition contains the polyimide resin and an organic solvent.
