PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tire tread which improves rubber reinforcing performance, while improving low rolling property by calcium carbonate, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: A master batch is prepared by adding, to 100 pts.wt. of diene rubber, 7-35 pts.wt. of calcium carbonate, 0.1-1.2 pts.wt. of a specific zinc dithiophosphate, and a compounding agent except a vulcanization compounding agent and carrying out a first mixing operation, the vulcanization compounding agent is added to the master batch, and a second mixing operation is carried out.
