The train has a pneumatic valve spring i.e. coil spring (6), pressurized by an actuating force against a resetting force, where the valve spring is formed by a closed volume of a pressure chamber (10) formed in a cylinder head (1). The pressure chamber is limited by a pressure piston (7) that is connected with a shaft (5) of a gas exchange valve (3). The pressure chamber is connected to a storage chamber (11) over an adjustable slide valve (12). The valve has a cross section such that the flow of pressurizing medium i.e. oil, between the chambers is not hindered, during compression. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a valve train with a pneumatic resetting system.
