A method for switching traffic path is disclosed, which includes: binding linkage between at least two neighboring equivalence links, when failure occurs in the first equivalence link of the said at least two equivalence links, calculating route and link cost, obtaining new network topology, and then switching traffic path according to the new network topology. As a result, the traffic can be switched to the backup router when failure occurs in the equivalence links. Thus, the problem in the prior art that in parallel backup links field, when failure occurs in the main link, the traffic path can not be switched to the backup router is resolved.
