PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for reducing camshaft oscillation caused by irregularity on a cam surface and lowering operation noise generated by the oscillation. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing a camshaft having a cam lobe includes a grinding process to grind the cam surface by sliding an abrasive on the cam surface of the cam lobe. In the grinding process, the cam surface grinding conditions are changed according to the position of the cam surface in the circumferential direction, and pitches of the surface irregularity formed on the cam surface are made to differ from each other according to the position of the cam surface in the circumferential direction.
