The base codeword (720; 750) represents a base value (10) and the interval codeword (710; 740) represents an interval (20). This interval (20) encompasses multiple component values (50) relative the base value (10). The index sequence (730; 750) is indicative of, for each image element (610), a component value selected from the multiple available values (50).
