PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fiber composite which has foamed (expanded )polymer capsules dispersed between vegetable fibers bound with a thermoplastic resin and is a fiber substrate excellent in lightness and rigidity, and to provide a method for efficiently producing the same. SOLUTION: The method for producing the fiber composite article, includes: a first web-forming process for forming a first web having vegetable fibers and thermoplastic resin fibers; a second web-forming process for forming a second web having vegetable fibers and thermoplastic resin fibers; a laminated web-forming process for arranging a capsule-carrying sheet having the first resin layer including a thermoplastic resin, the second resin layer including the thermoplastic resin, and thermally expandable capsules nipped between these layers, between the first web and the second web; an interlacing process for interlacing the laminated web; a melting process for heating the interlaced product to melt the thermoplastic resin in the first web and the thermoplastic resin in the second web; and an expansion process for heating the interlaced product to expand the thermally expandable capsules.
