摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve that an abnormal state in an electrodeless discharge lamp immediately after lighting that is lighted by a magnetron driven by a direct current is not continued, and an operational stability is rapidly recovered also from an abnormal state during a stabilized state period. SOLUTION: A lighting start of the electrodeless discharge lamp 24 is initiated by a soft-start. Electric power supplied to the magnetron 9 is gradually increased so that it takes a longer time to reach a lighting state than what is required when the light-emitting medium which absorbs micro-waves and is vaporized sufficiently. During that period, the output of a direct power source is periodically turned off in a short time to re-set the abnormal operation state. Afterwards, a stable direct current electric power is supplied. During the stable state period, the anode operating current of the magnetron 9 is controlled so as to become constant. In the case an elevation of operating voltage in the discharge lamp 24 is detected, the power output of the direct current power source is turned off in a short time so that the lamp is made to return to the stable state.
