PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low wind-pressure insulated wire for an overhead line capable of alleviating a wind-pressure load, improving processing speed, restraining increase of a CD value, and alleviating wind noise generated at a certain angle. SOLUTION: The low wind-pressure insulated wire for an overhead line 100 is provided with a plurality of conductors 1 and an insulation coating 2 made of crosslinked polyethylene coating the plurality of conductors 1. On an outer periphery face (all the surface) of the insulation coating 2, four linear protrusions 3 continued in a length direction L and fitted at a constant interval in a circumferential direction C crossing the length direction, and a number of elliptical granular protrusions 4 provided at intervals to form rows between the linear protrusions 3 on surfaces other than the parts where the linear protrusions 3 are formed, structure a plurality of rows.
