PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EGR control device of an internal combustion engine capable of recovering cooling efficiency in a short time. SOLUTION: The EGR control device of an internal combustion engine includes an EGR gas reversing means and a control means and is applied to the internal combustion engine which has an EGR passage for refluxing EGR gas from an exhaust system to an intake system and an EGR cooler disposed in the EGR passage for cooling the EGR gas. The EGR gas reversing means makes a flow direction of the EGR gas reverse in the EGR cooler. If the control means determines that a pressure loss of the EGR gas in the EGR cooler exceeds a prescribed value, the control means uses the EGR gas reversing means to make the flow direction of the EGR gas reverse in the EGR cooler. This enables the EGR cooler to recover its cooling efficiency in a shorter time compared to a configuration in which EGR gas passes in a normal flow direction, that is, from the exhaust system to the intake system.
