PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a crack from being generated, without using a reinforcement member, in a simple steel vertical type expansion device. SOLUTION: Vertical steel plates 11A, 11B are formed into smooth waveforms. Concave parts 21A, 21B are formed into circular arc faces having a curvature radius r and an opening angleβ. Apexes Q2 of waveformed convex parts 22A, 22B are arranged with a distance t along a bridge axial direction with respect to apexes Q1 of the concave parts 21A, 21B. A ratio r/t is brought into substantial 3.5, andβis made 60°or more. The vertical steel plates 11A, 11B are fixed to box-shaped cut-through parts 14A, 14B of floor slabs 13A 13B via anchor members 15A-17A, 15B-17B.
