PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turbine operating (running) method enabling manufacturing of a larger turbine and operation of the turbine in a cost-effective manner, and a power generating turbine system. SOLUTION: The power generating turbine system includes an axial flow compressor 104 for pressurizing an air flow. The pressurized air flow is then mixed with fuel and combusted within a combustor 120 such that the resulting flow of high temperature gas is directed through the turbine. The turbine includes a low-pressure turbine section 208 and a high-pressure turbine section 204. The high-pressure turbine section 204 is coupled to the axial flow compressor 104 via a first shaft 216, and drives at least part of the axial flow compressor 104 during operation. The high-pressure turbine section 204 is coupled to a high-speed power generator 802 via the first shaft 216, and drives the high-speed power generator 802 during operation. The low-pressure turbine section 208 is coupled to a low-speed power generator 212 via a second shaft 220, and drives the low-speed power generator 212 during operation.
