PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing device displaying a through image suited for photographing by internally performed signal processing on a display screen even against light and at night, and a through image displaying method in the photographing device. SOLUTION: In a first frame, the position of a face is detected by face detecting means 13101 and a face position surrounding part is regarded as a main photographic subject to generate a first display image with the face position surrounding part optimally exposed by imaging means 1301. In a second frame, a second display image with an area other than the face position surrounding part detected by the face detecting means 13101 which is optimally exposed is generated by the imaging means. The first and second display images are compounded to each other by a face area compounding means 1305 per two frames to be displayed on an LCD panel of an LCD 117 under the control of a display control means 1306.
