PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser light intensity control device, a laser light intensity control method and an image forming apparatus, that can maintain stable operation of a semiconductor laser light source by controlling the intensity of laser light with high precision. SOLUTION: A bias current as a first current and a superposed current as a second current are set independently of each other, and the bias current for keeping the intensity of laser light uniform during image formation is adjusted. If temperature variation of a semiconductor laser exceeds an allowable range during the image formation, the bias current and superposed current are re-set when the image forming operation is not performed.
