PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen production system having good energy efficiency. SOLUTION: The hydrogen production system 1 comprises: a reformed gas production apparatus 10 which produces a reformed gas by reforming a hydrogen-containing fuel; a combustor 21 which warms up the reformed gas production apparatus 10; a hydrogen purification apparatus 30 which removes impurities from the reformed gas produced by the reformed gas production apparatus by means of a PSA mechanism 100 to obtain high-purity hydrogen by purification; a second hydrogen tank 82 in which, when the purity of hydrogen purified by the hydrogen purification apparatus 30 is below a predetermined purity, this hydrogen is stored; a pipe 51a and a pipe 52a through which, when the purity of hydrogen purified by the hydrogen purification apparatus 30 is the predetermined purity and above, this hydrogen is circulated; a stop valve 52 and a stop valve 81 which change over the destination of hydrogen from the hydrogen purification apparatus 30 to the second hydrogen tank 82 or to the pipe 51a and the pipe 52a; and a flow control valve 83 which supplies hydrogen stored in the second hydrogen tank 82 to the combustor 21 as fuel.
