PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter 1 absorbing impact force input from the side of an engine without increasing the number of components. SOLUTION: A lever seal 11 is sandwiched between the assembling surface of an electromagnetic switch 8 and a projecting portion 10a of a center case 10, and is operative to prevent intrusion of foreign matter into the inside of the electromagnetic switch 8. The lever seal 11 is circumferentially positioned by abutting both circumferential ends on both the circumferential ends of a recessed portion formed in a housing 9. Further, the lever seal 11 is formed with two circular cavities, and two projecting pins formed on the projecting portion 10a of the center case 10 are fitted into the cavities. Thereby, the circumferential rotation of the center case 10 is regulated with respect to the housing 9 by positioning the projecting portion 10a to the housing 9 through the lever seal 11. By this structure, the impact force input from the side of the engine is absorbed by compressively deforming the lever seal 11. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
