A compound represented by formula (I): or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof has a stimulatory action on the activity of a metabotropic glutamate receptor mGluR5 and therefore is useful for prevention or treatment of diseases associated with the metabotropic glutamate receptor mGluR5, specifically, diseases such as schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, cognitive impairment, dementia, anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety disorders, panic disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, social anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, specific phobia, acute stress disorders and the like), depression, ADHD (attention deficit/hyperactivity disorders), drug dependence, convulsion, tremor and sleep disorders.
