<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contactless IC card reading system that implements such improved operability that prevents operation errors by operators of portable terminals. <P>SOLUTION: In the portable terminal and a contactless IC card reading device, the portable terminal is provided with a light emitting part 1 on the surface where a contactless IC card is mounted, and a contactless IC card reading device is provided with a light receiving sensor 4.
