PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering system for suppressing the deterioration of steering feeling when a driver steers a steering wheel by one hand. SOLUTION: The steering system is equipped with a touch sensor 10a on a selector lever 10 of an automatic transmission, and a steering control ECU 130 for controlling a power force applying means detects that the driver contacts with the selector lever 10 of the automatic transmission from a detection signal from the touch sensor 10a on the selector lever 10. The steering control ECU 130 increases a damping gain of the power force applying means by calculating a damper correction gain I<SB>G</SB>to integrate it to a damper compensation value I.
