The method involves providing a fluid chamber (14) with a hardening layer (16) on an inner surface of a wall of the fluid chamber. The hardening layer is produced from a material, which is not electrically conductive. The hardening layer is made conductive by silicon carbide additives, and a surface of the hardening layer is machined by electro-discharge machining. The hardening layers are glued in cavities of a machine housing (10) as prefabricated linings (18, 20). An independent claim is also included for a machine with housing, comprising a hardening layer.
