Compositions and methods for gas and oil well treatment

A microemulsion system comprising: a surfactant subsystem including at least one monoalkyl branched propoxy sulphate anionic surfactant; a solvent subsystem including an organic solvent and water; and a co-solvent subsystem including a mixture of alcohols and at least one polypropylene glycol. The surfactant subsystem may further comprise at least one ethoxylated alcohol and at least one ethylene oxide-propylene oxide block copolymer, and at least one alkyl ether sulfate anionic surfactant. The solvent subsystem may also comprise at least one short chain alcohol - from 1 to 4 carbon atoms - and at least one longer chain alcohol - from 6 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkarene or mixture of alkarenes, and a terpene or mixture of terpenes. Further specified are applications and methods of use of the microemulsion system, including fracturing, drilling, and removing bound water.
