Method for manufacturing polymer dispersions, dispersions created thereby and their application

Emulsion polymerization of radically polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomers of mono or diester of ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid with alkanol, vinyl ester and/or vinyl aromates and optionally further copolymerizable monomers in the presence of an emulsifier (0-1 wt.%) in a protective colloid, where at least 60% of the total conversion of the emulsion polymerization takes place at 100-160[deg] C, is claimed. Independent claims are included for: (1) the polymer dispersion obtained by the above process; and (2) a polymer powder obtained by spraying the polymer dispersion, which is preferably added after polyvinyl alcohol and an anticaking agent.
