<p>The invention relates to an optical network termination (3) for receiving a multi-speed, multi-level signal (7) comprising a first discrete-level signal having a first speed and a second discrete-level signal (8) having a second speed, the second speed being an integer multiple of the first speed, the optical network termination (3) comprising: a clock recovery circuit (15) adapted to recover the clock of the second discrete-level signal (8) from the multi-speed, multi-level signal (7). The clock recovery circuit (15) is adapted to recover the clock of the second discrete-level signal (8) from the first discrete-level signal (6) of the multi-speed, multi-level signal (7), preferably by synchronizing a local oscillator (16a) generating the second speed to the first discrete-level signal (6).
