PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plating-pretreatment method which eliminates the need for a conventional etching step and imparts a metallic catalyst for plating onto a polymeric textile material with a simplified process, by using a supercritical fluid or a subcritical fluid, and to provide a plating method using it. SOLUTION: This plating-pretreatment method comprises the steps of: placing the polymeric textile material (M) in a reaction chamber 30; charging an organometallic complex into a supply chamber 31; supplying liquid carbon dioxide to a syringe pump 2 from a high-pressure cylinder 1; pressurizing the carbon dioxide to a predetermined pressure to convert it into a supercritical state; introducing the supercritical fluid into a reaction vessel 3 to mix the organometallic complex with the fluid in the supply chamber 31, make them flow down to the reaction chamber 30, make the organometallic complex dissolve into the supercritical fluid by being stirred by a stirring device 33, and make the organometallic complex impregnated in the polymeric material together with the supercritical fluid; and setting a temperature in the reaction chamber 30 at a reduction temperature by a heater 32 placed in the reaction vessel 3 to reduce the impregnated organometallic complex and make the metallic catalyst for plating precipitate on the surface of the textile material.
