<p>Apparatus for sealing a micro well plate 15 comprising a heat block 11 which is resiliently deformable and heating means 12 to heat the heat block. The micro well plate or microplate 15 has a plurality of wells 15a, each well having an aperture in a the top surface of the micro well plate wherein a film 16 is placed upon the top surface of the micro well plate and the film is melt-sealed to the micro well plate by contact with the heat block 11 and application of pressure. The resiliently deformable nature of the heat block ensures that the surface of the heat block deforms and conforms to the shape of the top surface of the micro well plate to ensure a comprehensive seal between the film and plate. The heat block may be formed of silicon rubber and incorporate a material/substance of higher thermal conductivity such as metal strips, wire or metal powder.</p> |
