PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical reception sub assembly capable of coping with the increase of terminals. SOLUTION: A laminate ceramic substrate 18 is loaded on a conductive base 15, a ground layer is formed on the surface of the substrate 18, and an energizing route is established by the ground layer on the substrate 18, a conductive adhesive piece 33, a cap 16 and the base 15. The base 15 functions as the ground, high frequency noise is propagated from the ground layer through the conductive adhesive piece 33 and the cap 16 to the base 15, and a sufficient ground potential is obtained as a result. Self-resonance is prevented on the substrate 18. The binary of optical signals is accurately reflected on the output voltage of a pin terminal 17a, the information of the optical signals is accurately transmitted, and the disposition density of terminals 17a and 17c can be increased on the basis of a wiring pattern 24 and a via 27 on the substrate 18.
