<p>A nylon particle has uniformly dispersed on its surface a powdery blend comprising a water-insoluble pigment and a polyamide having a molecular weight of from 1,000 to less than 10,000 and an intrinsic viscosity of from 0,1 to 0,75. Specified nylons are those derived from o -aminocarboxylic acids and from dicarboxylic acids and diamines. The examples describe the polymerization of hexamethylene diammonium adipate to form low molecular weight polyamides which are dispersed together with organic pigments or carbon black in water or coated on fibre-forming polyhexamethylene adipamide flakes by tumbling.
