FIELD: technological processes. ^ SUBSTANCE: inventions are related to the field of scientific instrument-making and are intended for manufacturing of needles of scanning tunnel microscope and probes for biological researching. Invention objective is to reduce area of probing needle point tip, which is not coated by insulating material, and lower probability of needle point tip in process of coat application. For this purpose in device for application of coat onto probing needle, comprising the first and second drives of microdisplacement, the first microdisplacement drive is arranged with the possibility of displacement in vertixal and horizontal directions. Conducting plate, bracket and control unit are introduced in device. Bracket is installed on base. Plate is fixed in bracket. Inlets of control unit are connected to probing needle and plate. Outlet of control unit is connected to the first drive of microdisplacement. Method for coat application onto probing needle consists in the fact that one end of needle is fixed, directing free sharp end upwards. Needle sharp point is installed near conducting surface, between them voltage is applied, and they are brought together to the distance, at which tunnel current flowing is possible. Material of coat is installed on holder, it is brought to melted condition, holder with material is displaced in horizontal direction to probing needle until it is not surrounded with insulating material. Besides, free sharp end of needle must be located above material surface. Then probing needle is submerged in material, metering current force. Submersion is stopped when current value changes at earlier established value. In final stage needle is taken out from insulating material. ^ EFFECT: reduction of probing needle tip area, which is not coated with insulating material, and provision of possibility of control over coat making process. ^ 2 cl, 3 dwg |
