Cosmetic composition (I) comprises: one or more alkoxysilanes; and one or more vinylformamide/vinylformamine copolymers comprising 10-95 mole% of amine compound (A) and 90-5 mole% of amide compound (B), in a medium. Cosmetic composition comprises: one or more alkoxysilanes; and one or more vinylformamide/vinylformamine copolymers comprising 10-95 mole% of amine compound of formula (-CH 2-CH(NH 2)-) (A) and 90-5 mole% of amide compound of formula (-CH 2-CH(NH-C(=O)-H)-) (B), in a medium. Independent claims are included for: (1) device comprising at least two compartments, of which a first compartment contains a first composition comprising one or more alkoxysilanes, and a second compartment contains a second composition comprising one or more vinylformamide/vinylformamine copolymers, in a medium; and (2) a process for cosmetic treatment of hair, comprising applying (I) to the hair, then carrying out an optional rinsing after an exposure time.
