PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine capable of inhibiting emission of cyanic acid by appropriately warming up a catalyst.
SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device for the internal combustion engine includes a NOx elimination catalyst and an electrical heating type catalyst in an exhaust gas passage. The exhaust emission control device for the internal combustion engine eliminate NOx component in exhaust gas by supplying reducer such as urea in the NOx elimination catalyst. The electrical heating type catalyst is, for example, an oxidation catalyst provided with a hater for heating, and is disposed at a downstream of the NOx elimination catalyst in the exhaust gas passage. The catalyst warming up means heats the electrical heating type catalyst when it is determined that exhaust gas temperature is not higher than first temperature during supply of urea. Since cyanic acid formed by supply of urea can be eliminated by the electrical heating type catalyst in such a manner, emission of the cyanic acid to an outside of a vehicle can be inhibited.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
