<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to recognize a residual amount of toner without using a toner residual amount detection sensor. <P>SOLUTION: A correction factor is set in which toner consumption due to "fogging" caused when image density is low is considered. Under a condition that the image density is 0.7% or image density is approximate to that, correction accuracy is intentionally lowered to have a tendency to "excessive toner" that is a result reverse to insufficient toner.
