PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: when instructions to execute reading are transmitted to an image reading device from an irregular host computer before a password is input after a manuscript is set in the image reading device, there is a possibility that image data read by the image reading device is stolen. SOLUTION: An input means to input the certification information of a user, a memory means to memorize the certification information input by the input means, a state setting means to set a user log-in state when the certification information is input by the input means, a determining means to determine whether reading is executed from the certification information memorized by the memory means and certification information transmitted from a transmission source for instructions to execute reading when the user log-in state is set by the state setting means, are provided, and after determining that reading is executed by the determining means and the manuscript is read by a reading part, the user log-in state is canceled.
